Last Friday I posted this on facebook and said that it accurately described how I felt as a missionary mom and seemed appropriate as we started to pack and say our goodbyes. Within an hour I received a call from my aunt asking about our plans for departure. At church on Sunday 5 or 10 more people asked the same thing. That’s when I realized that we have done very little communication with our friends and family about our plans.
There are many reasons for this. The biggest one being that we have felt very “in flux” and have found nailing down a departure date very difficult. We are currently in the fund raising process, but we haven’t yet sent out a letter to inform people of that. We have been setting things in motion, and we hope that we are days away from having the things we feel we need to officially spread the word about our new organization and our Big Plan. We have been very careful to try and practice restraint in what we say, because we want to make sure that we know what we are talking about before we say it. We want to be honest and communicate effectively what we are setting out to do.
What I can tell you is that we are hoping to leave for Niger sometime around the end of August. No plane tickets have been purchased, and our departure date remains tentative. I can also tell you that God is doing amazing things in our hearts as we plan this next step in our ministry in Niger. We continue to feel called to work with women and children who are in need. We have joined forces with some amazing people both here and in Niger. Very soon we hope to tell you more about that. This week we are working on logo, mission statement, and ways to donate online.  We are also packing for a month of travel.
Thank you for your support of us and your questions about our plans! We are very excited about all that is happening behind the scenes and cannot wait to share it with you!
